The Mauritanian Football Federation announced on Friday the appointment of a new coaching staff for the under-20 national team, with Spanish coach Artiz López Garai set to take the helm.
In an official statement following the executive committee meeting chaired by Ahmed Waleed Yahya, the Mauritanian federation confirmed that Garai would officially assume his duties starting March.
During the meeting, the executive committee also renewed its trust in the head coach of the senior national team, Amir Abdou, extending his contract for an additional two years.
This decision comes in recognition of the significant progress achieved by the team under his leadership.
Additionally, the Mauritanian Football Federation approved the allocation of monthly salaries for elite referees in Mauritania, benefiting 20 referees selected based on their professional levels.
This professional system allows for entry and exit from this elite group through performance evaluations each season.
Furthermore, a Saudi coaching staff was appointed for the under-17 national team, and confidence was renewed in the coach of the under-15 national team, as well as the coaches of the futsal and beach soccer national teams.
The executive committee also greenlit the organization of the school championship for the West African Football Union and a beach soccer championship for the West Asian Football Union, alongside hosting the Arab Beach Soccer Championship.
