Burkina Faso begin Amir Abdou era with five-goal win
Burkina Faso national football team made a commanding start to life under Amir Abdou with a 5-0 win over Guinea-Bissau national football team, while Madagascar national football team secured an emphatic victory and Comoros national football team suffered defeat in a series of international friendlies on Saturday.
At the Stade du 4-Août, Burkina Faso delivered one of their most convincing performances in recent years, registering a five-goal win in Abdou’s first match in charge.
The result stands as the team’s second-largest victory, behind the 6-0 win over Djibouti recorded in September.
The Stallions took the lead in the 26th minute through Pierre Landry Kaboré, before Dango Ouattara doubled the advantage just before half-time. The turning point of the match came after the break, when substitute Elohim Kaboré made an immediate impact.
Introduced at half-time, the forward scored a hat-trick in less than 30 minutes, finding the net in the 61st, 74th and 89th minutes. His performance ensured a dominant scoreline and provided an encouraging sign for the team’s new era under Abdou.
Elsewhere, Madagascar continued their strong form with a high-scoring victory over Kyrgyzstan national football team in Antalya. The Barea effectively settled the contest in the first half, building a 4-0 lead before the interval.
Goals from Arnaud Randrianantenaina, Thomas Fontaine, Warren Caddy and Clément Couturier gave Madagascar full control early on.
Kyrgyzstan responded in the second half with two goals in quick succession, scoring in the 58th and 62nd minutes to reduce the deficit.
However, Madagascar maintained their composure, and Caddy added a second goal late in the match to confirm a 5-2 victory. The result underlined the team’s attacking efficiency and ability to respond under pressure.
In contrast, Comoros were unable to replicate that success, falling to defeat against Namibia in their own friendly encounter.
The result highlighted differing fortunes among the three African sides during the international window.
Across the matches, the performances offered a snapshot of teams at different stages of development. Burkina Faso’s emphatic win signals a promising beginning under new leadership, while Madagascar’s display reinforces their current momentum. For Comoros, the defeat provides a point of reflection as preparations continue.
