Spanish national football team coach Luis de la Fuente commented on Ibrahim Diaz’s decision to represent the Moroccan national team, emphasizing that the player is free to make his choice.
De la Fuente stated to Spanish newspaper “Marca”: “I fully respect his position. Everyone must make the decisions they deem appropriate, and he is free to choose what he sees fit.”
He added: “But I have always said that there are three constants for wearing the Spanish shirt: firstly, being ready to play for the national team, secondly, the desire to do so, and thirdly, being called up by the coach.”
The coach of the Spanish national team stressed that “the most important thing in all of this is the desire to represent the national team without demands or conditions, with equal rights and obligations as others.”
Ibrahim Diaz, the Real Madrid star, has chosen to represent Morocco over Spain, pending the official announcement of his decision in the coming hours, after being convinced by the project of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
