South Africa’s Bayana Bayana produced a descent performance to stun Zambian in a pre-Women Africa Cup of Nations friendly match.
The first half of the much-anticipated ended in a pulsating goalless draw, as both teams struggled to find the back of the net.
However, it was South Africa, who prevailed with a win after inflicting a 2-0 win over their opponent on Tuesday.
The host, South Africa, controlled the tempo of the match throughout, opening the scoring in the 74th-minute mark through Bongeka Hamade before Jermaine Seoposenwe cemented the win eight minute later.
This marks the sixth consecutive win for the South Africa women’s national team. The Bayana Bayana remains unbeaten in 2025.
Next up for South Africa are fixtures in the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. The team will compete in a group alongside Ghana, Tanzania, and Mali. Their opening match is scheduled for July 7.
