South African midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch is set to join Wydad Athletic Club on a permanent deal after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns.
Lorch is set to rejoin Moroccan side on a permanent two-year deal, following a successful six-month loan spell.
Sundowns said in a statement: “Thank you, Nyoso! After two unforgettable years, one league title, 26 appearances, seven goals and four assists, the Yellow Nation thanks and celebrates Thembinkosi Lorch. Wishing you all the best as you start the next chapter of your journey!”
At Wydad, coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem sees Lorch as a key addition to the attack, with options to play him as a central striker or second forward.
Now the Casablanca-based club will shift its focus to signing a left-back, after cancelling plans for a right-back and striker.
Wydad’s summer window has been busy. Alongside Lorch, the club has signed Amin Abou Fath (Kuwait), Joseph Bakasso (Manima Union, DR Congo), Walid Sebbar (Nahdat Zemamra), Abdelghafour Lamirat (Olympic Safi), Guilherme Ferreira de Oliveira (Vilafranquense, Portugal), Bart Myers (Borac Banja Luka, Bosnia), Hamza El Ouasti (Ittihad Tanger), Hamza Hanouri (Fath Rabat), Stefan Aziz Ki (Young Africans, Tanzania), and Sofiane Amrabat (free agent).
