South African outfit Richards Bay are closing in on the acquisition of Malawian attacker Gabadinho Mhango as the summer transfer approaches.
The 32-year-old has become a subject of interest for several clubs following an outstanding campaign with Richards Bay in the recently concluded campaign.
He made 20 appearances in the South African Premier League, scoring five goals and delivering an assist across the period.
Mhango, who recently parted ways with Marumo Gallants, is set to bring his attacking prowess to the KwaZulu-Natal outfit. He joined Gallants at the start of the season when the club acquired Moroka Swallows’ PSL status. Despite limited minutes in the final stretch, Mhango made an impact, contributing six goals across competitions.
However, his playing time dwindled toward the end of the campaign, with just two league appearances in the last seven matches—only one of which was a start.
The Malawian attacker is not new to the South African top-flight, having had spells with Golden Arrows, Bidvest Wits FC, Big Bullets and others.
