South African outfit Kaizer Chiefs announce departure of defender Edmilson Dove
South African outfit Kaizer Chiefs have announce the departure of defender Edmilson Dove ahead of the new season.
As his contract runs out at the end of June, the Soweto giants has decided not to renew contract with the 31-year-old, making him a free agent.
Dove is departing the club after almost three-year spell following his arrival in August 2022. The defender was not registered at the beginning of the 2024/25 season due to injury. Upon his return, Dove managed just ten appearances in the league.
“Kaizer Chiefs and defender Edmilson Dove will part ways at the end of his contract in late June. We sincerely thank Edmilson for his contributions to the club and wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” a statement from the club reads.
Since joining Kaizer Chiefs, Dove has racked up 56 appearances and scoring twice across competitions for the club.
Kaizer Chiefs are keen on strengthening their squad for the new season. However, the club has decided to part ways with certain players to make way for new addition.
The Soweto giants has already sever ties with Ranga Chivaviro, Sabelo Radebe and Njabulo Blom.
Having become a free agent, he is expected to find himself a new club before the commencement of the 2025/26 campaign.
