South African giants Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are set to engage in a fierce battle for the services of SuperSport United defender Neo Rapa.
The 19-year-old left-back has emerged as a transfer target for several clubs following an outstanding performance for both SuperSport United and the South African U20 team.
Neo Rapa has cemented his status as one of the continent’s most promising defensive talents after a stellar display at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, held in Egypt.
He was instrumental when South Africa triumphed over Egypt to secure the U20 Africa Cup of Nations title.
The defender has concrete interest from Soweto giants Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, who are keen on securing his services this summer.
Kaizer Chiefs see Rapa as a long-term solution at left-back, a position that has caused them headaches in recent seasons.
The “Pirates,” meanwhile, have made the left-back spot their top priority following the departures of Paseka Mako and Innocent Maela.
Last season, Neo made 15 appearances for SuperSport’s senior side, though he did not register any direct goal involvements.
