South African defender Nkosinathi Sibisi has extended his stay at Orlando Pirates until summer 2027.
The highly-profiled defender’s current contract with the Soweto giants was due to expire at the end of the campaign. However, the club has activated his contract renewal option to keep their star for the upcoming campaign.
Sibisi initially signed from Golden Arrows in 2022 on a three-year contract with an option to renew an option, which the club has activated.
The 28-year-old has been a cornerstone in the Buccaneers’ backline during a demanding season, stepping up as injuries disrupted the squad. He’s made 39 appearances across all competitions and chipped in with two league goals.
Sibisi was a mainstay at center-back despite a changing roster of defensive partners that included Olisa Ndah, Tapelo Xoki, Thabiso Sesane, and Mbekezeli Mbokazi. This season, the Pirates have once again pursued numerous titles thanks to his leadership and reliability.
As part of the transition, Pirates have already dipped into the transfer market, securing Nkosikhona Ndaba from Richards Bay FC and Masindi Nemtajela from Marumo Gallants. More changes are expected once the new head coach is unveiled.
