South Africa star Percy Tau, who joined Al Ahly SC in 2021 from English side Brighton, finds himself at a crossroads after rejecting the club’s mutual contract termination offer.

The Cairo giants reportedly offered Tau USD300,000 to terminate his contract early, allowing him to leave as a free agent in January.

However, Tau, whose contract expires at the end of the 2024-25 season, has insisted on receiving the full USD600,000 owed to him.

This development comes amid a challenging season for Tau, who has been limited to just 11 minutes of league action under manager Marcel Koller.

Al Ahly is eager to offload the 29-year-old to free up space for a new foreign signing, as they aim to reinforce their squad for the remainder of the season.

Despite his current struggles, Tau’s tenure at Al Ahly has been marked by success, with 117 appearances, 29 goals, and 13 assists, contributing to 11 trophies, including two CAF Champions League titles.

The lack of game time has also impacted Tau’s international prospects, with South Africa’s head coach, Hugo Broos, urging him to seek regular football elsewhere.

As both parties deliberate his future, Tau’s decision could significantly influence his career trajectory and Al Ahly’s plans for the January transfer window.

In an exclusive interview, the Togo international said he has a point to prove this term after struggling for game time under former coach Thierry Froger. “I feel good compared to last year when I played very little and the coach had very little confidence in me,” the 28-year-old told AfricaSoccer.com. “Today, I have all the cards in hand to prove my talent. It was up to me to show him and everyone else that I was better than that.” Amewou believes new manager Victor Zvunka, who returned

Hull City remain cautious over Algerian international Bachir Belloumi comeback

Hull City manager Serj Jakirovic has provided an update on the recovery of Algerian international Bachir Belloumi, making it clear that the forward’s return to action will not be rushed as he continues his rehabilitation from a serious knee injury. Belloumi, who joined the Tigers from MC Oran, has been sidelined for several months after suffering a torn cruciate ligament, a setback that kept him out of nearly the entire previous campaign. The long layoff has raised questions about his readiness for the start of the new season, but Jakirovic has underlined that the club will prioritise the 22-year-old’s long-term fitness over short-term gains. It is essential that Bachir is

Algerian international Abdelkahar Kadri at odds with KV Kortrijk over blocked transfer

Abdelkahar Kadri’s future at KV Kortrijk has taken a contentious turn, with the Algerian international locked in a standoff with club management over his desired exit this summer. The 23-year-old midfielder has refused to join Kortrijk’s pre-season training camp in the Netherlands, in what Belgian media are describing as a deliberate attempt to force the club’s hand. Kadri, who has made clear his intention to leave, is reportedly frustrated with what he perceives as the club’s obstruction of several viable transfer opportunities. Interest in Kadri has been strong, with top Belgian Pro League sides Anderlecht and Gent expressing concrete interest. However, Kortrijk’s reported financial demands have so far scuppered any

HIGHLIGHTS: Senegal 4-0 D.R Congo – 2024 WAFCON

Senegal put up a dominant performance on Sunday in the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), hammering D.R Congo 4-0 in their first match at the tournament. Within a blistering opening 45 minutes, the Lionesses of Teranga asserted their dominance with a clinical display led by the attacking partnership of Mama Diop and Nguera Ndiaye. The duo struck with ruthless precision, finding the net in the 5th, 14th, 23rd, and 41st minutes to leave the Leopards stunned before the half-time whistle. DR Congo, visibly disorganised and overwhelmed in the opening stages, struggled to build any structure or momentum as Senegal controlled possession and dictated the pace. Captain Fideline
