South Africa’s national team coach, Hugo Broos, has come to the defense of Percy Tau, the star player of “Bafana Bafana” and Al Ahly, following his pivotal role in securing third place for his country in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Percy Tau contributed to South Africa’s achievement of the bronze medal in the Africa Cup of Nations, defeating the Democratic Republic of Congo to secure the third-place position in the tournament.

Broos remarked about Percy Tau, “He is a very good player, but all citizens in South Africa believe he is a player who can win games single-handedly.”

In a press statement, Broos added, “Percy Tau cannot win games alone. When he plays with full confidence, the performance of the South African national team is good.”

He continued, “Percy Tau is not Mohamed Salah (Egypt national team) or Victor Osimhen (Nigeria national team). He is a different kind of player, but he is a very good player for my team and raises our level when he plays.”

Currently, Percy Tau is absent from participation with Al Ahly due to muscle fatigue resulting from his involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations with his national team.

A return date for him has not yet been determined.
