South Africa’s Squad for Friendly Matches Against Australia and New Zealand
South Africa coach Gordon Igesund has announced a squad for the upcoming friendly matches against Australia and New Zealand, which serve as part of the team’s preparations for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. However, Igesund will be without some key players due to club commitments, as several clubs have refused to release prominent figures like goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune, defenders Tsepo Masilela and Anele Ngcongca, midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala, and striker Bernard Parker.
Given these absences, Igesund has had to turn to younger players to form his squad for these important encounters. Below is the list of players selected for the upcoming friendlies:
Goalkeepers:
Ronwen Williams
Senzo Meyiwa
Defenders:
Thabo Nthethe
Buhle Mkhwanazi
Thato Mokeke
Anele Ngcongca
Thabo Matlaba
Mulomowandau Mathoho
Midfielders:
Teko Modise
Oupa Manyisa
Bongani Zungu
Thulani Serero
Thuso Phala
Hlompho Kekana
Ayanda Patosi
Forwards:
Kermit Erasmus
Tokelo Rantie
The squad will rely on a mix of experience and youthful energy as they prepare for the challenges of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers later this year.
