FC Barcelona has been dealt a blow as FIFA has banned the club from transferring players for the next two transfer windows due to breaches in recruiting minors, which violates international sports regulations. The Catalan club, known for its emphasis on developing young talent, has been accused by FIFA of overstepping boundaries in this regard.
Among the players affected by FIFA’s decision are around ten extra-community players, including two young Africans: Cameroonian Patrick Sousia and Nigerian Bobby Adekanye. Other players implicated include three South Koreans (Paik Seung-Ho, Lee Seung Woo, and Jang Gyeo Lee) and a Frenchman named Théo Chendri. FC Barcelona has vehemently denied any wrongdoing and asserts that it will fight to clear its name.
José Maria Bartomeu, the interim president of the club, expressed disbelief and frustration at FIFA’s decision, insisting that FC Barcelona’s renowned youth academy, La Masia, serves as a model for other clubs worldwide. He vowed to challenge the ban, emphasizing the club’s commitment to nurturing talent and maintaining its status as a dominant force in world football.
