Sondrio bring in Italy-Senegal striker Mamadou Gaye from Monza

Italy and Senegal centre-forward Mamadou Gaye has joined Sondrio from Monza U20, completing a move to the Italian club on 1 September 2026.

The 20-year-old has signed a contract with Sondrio that runs until 30 June 2027. Gaye, who was born in Casale Monferrato, is a right-footed striker and will continue his career in Italy after leaving Monza’s Under-20 side.

Gaye joined Monza U20 from Robbio in July 2024 and spent the following two seasons with the club’s youth team. His most recent recorded campaign was in Primavera 1, the competition in which Monza U20 played during the 2026-27 season.

He was named in Monza U20’s squad for the opening two possible Primavera 1 matches of the campaign but did not make an appearance before switching clubs. Gaye also did not register a goal or assist during that period.

The forward’s arrival gives Sondrio a new option in the centre-forward position as the club begins the next stage of his development. His move also represents a return to senior club football after his time within Monza’s youth structure, although his previous spell at Robbio is the only earlier club recorded in his recent career history.

Gaye has dual Italian and Senegalese nationality and was born in northern Italy. His background connects him to both countries, while his club career to date has been based in the Italian game.

The transfer was completed on 1 September, with Gaye leaving Monza U20 after two years at the club. He is now contracted to Sondrio through the end of June 2027.
