Rachid Hachichi, the CEO of Algeria’s state-owned energy company Sonatrach, has affirmed his commitment to providing necessary assistance to Union Sportive Médina d’Annaba (USM Annaba) to ensure its return to the professional league.
In remarks broadcasted by Algerian TV channel “El Nahar” during his visit to Annaba, Hachichi stated, “There will be an agreement between Sonatrach and the governor of the province to assist Union Sportive Médina d’Annaba with the necessary resources.”
“We will provide the necessary resources to USM Annaba, and it remains for the players to do what is required on the field,” he added.
Hachichi further expressed regret over Annaba, a significant city, not having a team competing in the professional league.
He emphasized Sonatrach’s commitment to addressing this issue.
“Annaba is a large city, and we regret not having a team competing in the professional league, but we will work to rectify that,” Hachichi said.
USM Annaba, historically one of Algeria’s prominent football clubs, has faced challenges in recent years, including financial difficulties and relegation from the professional league.
Hachichi’s pledge of support signals a potential turnaround for the club and renewed hope for its fans.
The collaboration between Sonatrach, a major national institution, and local authorities underscores the importance of sports development and community engagement.
It reflects a broader commitment to promoting sporting excellence and fostering a sense of pride and identity within Algerian communities.
As USM Annaba strives to reclaim its position in Algerian football, Hachichi’s assurance of support provides a significant boost to the club’s ambitions and aspirations.
It symbolizes a partnership aimed at revitalizing the sporting landscape and contributing to the social and economic fabric of Annaba.
