Some Ghanaian players concerned about Otto Addo's future as Black Stars coach - Sports Minister Nominee

Concerns are mounting regarding the future of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, as Ghana’s Minister-designate for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, reveals that some players have expressed doubts about his leadership.

Addo, who has come under fire following Ghana’s failure to secure a spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), faces scrutiny from multiple sides.

Despite the criticism, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) recently decided to retain the 49-year-old coach.

As part of their efforts to revitalize the team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the GFA has also revamped Addo’s technical staff with a technical adviser, psychologist, and video analyst.

In an interview on Sporty FM, Adams highlighted the broader concerns surrounding Addo.

“The future of Otto Addo is a matter of concern to me. This concern of stay or not stay is not just coming from the non playing body that is what is of great concern to me,” he said.

“Not just the fans but the engagements I have had goes beyond that to even the playing body and some members of GFA (current and former).”
