Solomon Sosu: Ghanaian left-back linked with move to UAE side Baniyas

Solomon Sosu has completed a loan move from Al-Ain to FC Baniyas, joining the UAE Pro League side on a temporary deal starting 2026-02-05 and running until 2026-06-30. The 20-year-old left-back, who holds nationalities of the United Arab Emirates and Ghana, arrives at Baniyas with a current market value listed at €75k.

The transfer is a confirmed loan between two UAE Pro League clubs, with Al-Ain remaining his parent team and Baniyas securing his services for the remainder of the season. According to the registration details, Sosu is due to return to Al-Ain when the agreement expires on 2026-06-30, at which point his longer-term future will be reassessed. The deal is recorded as a loan transfer, with no permanent purchase clause indicated in the available data, meaning there is no automatic option or obligation for Baniyas to retain him beyond the end of the spell.

This switch marks another step in a short but active professional journey. Sosu joined Al-Ain from an unnamed previous club on a free transfer ahead of the 2023–24 season. In 2025 he temporarily left Al-Ain to join Al-Nasr SC (UAE) on loan, moving across the same league on 2025-07-10 before returning to Al-Ain at the end of that agreement on 2026-02-04. Barely a day after his recall, Al-Ain sanctioned a second loan, this time sending him to Baniyas.

The defender’s market value trajectory reflects both promise and recent fluctuation. While at Al-Ain, his valuation peaked at €200k in mid-2024 before gradually decreasing to €125k by late May 2025. During his spell with Al-Nasr, that figure dropped further to €75k by late November 2025, the level at which he now arrives at Baniyas. The shift suggests that regular playing time and a strong run of performances in Abu Dhabi could be important for stabilising or rebuilding his value ahead of his return to Al-Ain.

Primarily deployed as a left-back but listed broadly as a defender, Sosu stands 1.74 m tall and prefers his right foot, a profile that offers tactical flexibility on either flank or in inverted wide roles. All of his club football to date has been within the UAE Pro League, first with Al-Ain, then Al-Nasr, and now Baniyas, giving him experience across several of the division’s established sides.

At international level, the data links him only at club level rather than to a national team, but his dual eligibility for the United Arab Emirates and Ghana adds longer-term interest to his development. With his current loan ending on 2026-06-30 and no further contract details publicly specified beyond that point, his situation will be one to monitor, as players in similar positions can approach the end of deals and potentially move as free agents if no extension is agreed.

Born on 05 Mar 2005, Sosu enters this latest move at a key developmental age. The coming months at Baniyas will shape how Al-Ain evaluate his role in their future plans and may also influence his standing in the broader UAE Pro League market, as clubs consider the value of a versatile, dual-nationality full-back with growing top-flight experience.
