Guingamp defender Sohaib Nair has received his first-ever call-up to the Algerian national team as they gear up for crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Head coach Vladimir Petkovic included the 22-year-old in the squad set to face Botswana and Mozambique this month. The Algerian Football Federation confirmed on its official website that Nair will link up with the team on Monday evening, marking a major milestone in his career.
The Desert Warriors are scheduled to travel to Botswana tonight for Friday’s match before returning home to host Mozambique next Tuesday.
Algeria currently leads the group with nine points, edging out Mozambique on goal difference. Botswana sits third with six points, level with Guinea and Uganda, while Somalia remains at the bottom without a single point.
With a strong start to the qualifiers, Algeria will look to maintain momentum, and Nair’s inclusion adds fresh energy to the squad as they push toward securing a spot at the 2026 World Cup.
