Moroccan international Sofiane Rahimi propelled his team, Al Ain from the UAE, to a dramatic qualification for the quarterfinals of the AFC Champions League, scoring a decisive goal against Nasaf Qarshi from Uzbekistan.
The match ended with a scoreline of 2-1 in favor of Al Ain.
Rahimi managed to secure the winning goal in the dying moments of the game, breaking the deadlock as his team was tied at one goal each.
It’s noteworthy that the first leg ended in a goalless draw.
Nasaf Qarshi took the lead through Akmal Mazjubov in the 51st minute, only for Togolese striker Laba Kodjo to equalize just four minutes later.
However, Rahimi’s goal in the second minute of extra time sealed Al Ain’s victory.
Rahimi played a pivotal role in guiding Al Ain to the quarterfinals of the AFC Champions League, where they will face the winner of the match between Al Nassr and Al-Fayhaa, both Saudi Arabian clubs.
The Moroccan forward has been a standout performer this season, featuring in 24 matches across various competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists.
Notably, five of his goals came in the AFC Champions League.
