CS Constantine have kicked off their winter transfer window by striking a deal with Algerian forward Sofian Bahloul, who joins the Green and Black pending the final lifting of their recruitment ban.

The 26-year-old is a versatile attacker, comfortable on the right flank or playing just behind the striker, giving the Sanafir an extra creative and mobile option in the final third.

Bahloul was developed at Angers in France and most recently played in the Swiss second division with FC Aarau, a club he left in September after terminating his contract by mutual consent. That status makes his registration simpler, as no international transfer certificate is required, easing the administrative process once Constantine are cleared to register new players.

Before Aarau, Bahloul had a brief spell in the Austrian top flight with SCR Altach following six seasons in Switzerland’s second tier, where he enjoyed impressive campaigns with Chiasso and FC Wil.

His arrival is seen as a calculated move, inspired by the success of Nassim L’Ghoul, another player who came from the Swiss second division and shone at CS Constantine before earning a place with Algeria’s A’ national team.

In a challenging but ambitious context, Bahloul’s signing embodies the club’s hope for fresh impetus heading into the second half of the season.
