Smouha receive $450,000 after FIFA ruling over Leixoes transfer of Doko Dodo

Smouha have received $450,000 from Portuguese club Leixoes after winning a FIFA case over the transfer of Benin forward Doko Dodo, the Egyptian club’s board member Mohamed Sudan has said.

Smouha complained to world football’s governing body after Leixoes failed to pay the agreed transfer fee for Doko Dodo, who moved to the Portuguese club last summer.

The FIFA ruling confirmed that Smouha were entitled to $400,000 for the transfer, as well as a further $50,000 penalty for the delayed payment. The Egyptian club says the full amount has now been received.

“We received $450,000 for the sale of Beninese player Doko Dodo last summer to Portuguese club Leixoes, after receiving a FIFA ruling confirming that we were entitled to $400,000 as the value of the deal, in addition to a further $50,000 fine for the delay in payment,” Mohamed Sudan told FilGoal.com.

“Hisham Sheiba, the director of player affairs, was responsible for submitting the complaint to FIFA. We obtained the ruling and the money has بالفعل been received, as part of the club’s efforts to protect its financial rights.”

Doko Dodo has since returned to the Egyptian league, joining Al Mokawloon Al Arab after his short spell with Leixoes.

The forward signed a two-year contract with Al Mokawloon Al Arab on a free transfer following his time in Portugal. His move back to Egypt came after Smouha’s dispute with Leixoes had been taken to FIFA over the outstanding payment.

Doko Dodo represented Smouha from 2022 to 2025. During that period, he made 81 appearances for the club, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

His transfer to Leixoes last summer had initially left Smouha waiting for the agreed payment. The club then pursued the matter through FIFA, with Hisham Sheiba handling the formal complaint on its behalf.

The ruling included both the original $400,000 transfer fee and the additional $50,000 sanction imposed because of the delay. Smouha’s confirmation that the money has been paid brings the financial dispute to an end, according to Sudan.

Doko Dodo’s return to the Egyptian domestic competition means the player is now with Al Mokawloon Al Arab after a brief period at Leixoes. Before moving to Portugal, he had spent three years with Smouha, where he played 81 matches and contributed two goals and one assist.
