Smouha overcame Pharco with a controlled 2-0 victory at Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria, earning an important three points in the 15th round of the Egyptian Premier League.
The win lifted the Alexandria club further away from danger and kept their momentum going under coach Ahmed Abdelaziz.
The first half was tight until Smouha made the breakthrough deep into stoppage time. Khaled El Ghandour held his nerve from the penalty spot in the 45+7 minute, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to put his side 1-0 up at a psychologically crucial moment just before the interval.
After the break, Smouha continued to manage the game sensibly, balancing defensive solidity with sharp counter-attacks. Their control was rewarded in the 69th minute when Mohamed Mostafa struck the second goal, effectively killing off Pharco’s hopes of a comeback and sealing a confident home performance.
The result takes Smouha to 19 points, moving them into ninth place in the league standings and offering a platform to push towards the upper half of the table.
Pharco, coached by Ahmed Khattab, remain on 12 points in 16th place, still hovering worryingly close to the relegation zone as they search for consistency in the coming rounds.
