Smouha agree season-long loan for Ceramica Cleopatra’s Mohamed Adel

Smouha have reached an agreement with Ceramica Cleopatra to sign Mohamed Adel on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 31-year-old is set to join Smouha after the two Egyptian Premier League clubs concluded discussions over a temporary transfer. Adel will spend the coming campaign with Smouha as the club looks to strengthen its squad and challenge for a higher position in the league.

Adel joined Ceramica Cleopatra four seasons ago after leaving Ismaily. He can operate both as a centre-back and at right-back, giving Smouha an additional defensive option as they prepare for the new season.

The player spent last season on loan at Al Mokawloon Al Arab, where he made 17 appearances in the Egyptian Premier League. His move to Smouha will now provide him with another opportunity to continue his career away from Ceramica Cleopatra.

Smouha are working to reinforce their squad ahead of the new campaign, with the club targeting an improved finish in the Egyptian Premier League. They ended last season seventh in the group that determined the league champion, collecting 31 points.

The draw for the Egyptian Premier League is scheduled to take place next Wednesday, ahead of the start of the competition. The new league season is due to begin on 21 August.

Smouha’s agreement for Adel is part of the club’s preparations for the campaign, with his ability to play in central defence or on the right side of the back four offering further flexibility to the squad. His experience includes spells with Ismaily, Ceramica Cleopatra and Al Mokawloon Al Arab.

Ceramica Cleopatra signed Adel four seasons ago from Ismaily, and he subsequently spent the previous campaign with Al Mokawloon Al Arab on loan. During that spell, he featured in 17 league matches before returning to the centre of the latest transfer discussions between Ceramica Cleopatra and Smouha.

The proposed move is for the full season, with Smouha set to add Adel to their squad as they seek to improve on last season’s seventh-place finish in the title-deciding section of the competition. The club will now continue its preparations before the league draw and the opening fixtures later this month.
