Slavia Prague have turned down a €20 million bid from West Ham United for highly-rated Senegalese left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf, according to reports from Wiwsport.
The Czech side’s refusal to part with the 20-year-old comes amid growing interest from multiple European clubs, with the Premier League appearing to be a particularly strong suitor.
West Ham had been in advanced talks for Diouf’s services, but journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the offer was swiftly declined, with Slavia holding out for a higher valuation.
Diouf, who joined Slavia Prague from Norwegian club Tromsø IL in early 2024, has made an immediate impact in his debut season. Featuring in 37 matches across all competitions, the full-back registered seven goals and three assists — an impressive tally for a defender.
His dynamic style, both defensively and in attack, has made him an integral part of the Slavia setup and a standout figure in the Czech league.
His breakthrough campaign was recognised with two major accolades from the Czech Professional League (LFA): Best Foreign Player and Revelation of the Year.
These honours have only heightened interest in the Senegalese international, with scouts from top European sides continuing to monitor his progress closely.
In addition to West Ham, other clubs believed to be tracking Diouf include Liverpool, Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace, Rennes, and Turkish giants Fenerbahçe.
Despite the range of interest, West Ham have so far shown the strongest intent, going as far as submitting a formal offer — which Slavia Prague deemed insufficient.
The Czech club is reportedly holding firm on its valuation, convinced that Diouf’s market value is set to rise further, given his age, potential, and recent performances.
Slavia’s management are thought to be reluctant to let him leave unless an offer more reflective of his importance to the team is presented.
While West Ham’s opening bid has been rejected, the situation remains fluid. With several weeks remaining in the summer transfer window, the London club could return with an improved proposal.
Meanwhile, other interested parties may look to enter the race should Diouf remain available.
For now, Slavia Prague are keen to retain one of their most prized assets as they prepare for the new season, aware that any departure would require careful planning and a suitable replacement.
However, as interest continues to grow, the pressure could mount, particularly if clubs come forward with significantly higher bids.
El Hadji Malick Diouf remains under contract with Slavia, and while the Czech side holds the advantage in negotiations, the coming weeks could prove decisive in determining whether the defender stays in Prague or makes a move to one of Europe’s top leagues.
