Despite finishing behind Ademola Lookman in the race for the prestigious 2024 African Ballon d’Or, Ivorian forward Simon Adingra has expressed heartfelt gratitude for being recognized among the continent’s top players.

The Brighton striker’s impressive performances over the past year earned him a spot among the nominees, a milestone he views as a significant achievement in his career.

In a statement marked by humility, Adingra acknowledged the honor of being named among Africa’s best. “It is a huge honour for me to be among the best players in Africa.

I would like to congratulate the winner, who fully deserves this award after such an exceptional season!” he said.

Although he did not claim the top prize, the 21-year-old emphasized that the recognition itself is a testament to his progress and hard work over the year.

Reflecting on his journey, Adingra shared a personal perspective on his dreams and aspirations.

“Five years ago, I dreamed of the Africa Cup of Nations and the Ballon d’Or. Today, I have already achieved one of these dreams, and I know that I am on the right track to accomplish the second.”

This statement highlights not only his ambition but also his unwavering focus on reaching the highest levels of success in African football.

Adingra also took the opportunity to thank those who have supported him throughout his career.

He expressed deep gratitude to his family, whose support has been instrumental in his development, and to his fans for their unwavering encouragement.

“I would also like to thank my family, who have always been with me and supported me at every stage of my career.

A big thank you also to my fans for their unconditional love and encouragement, which motivates me every day to surpass myself. This nomination is also yours. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Although the African Ballon d’Or title eluded him this time, Adingra remains focused on his future and the next steps in his international career.

His words serve as a reminder of the perseverance and determination that drive him to continue his rise in football, inspiring many young players across the continent to chase their dreams with the same passion and commitment.
