Simba SC head coach Steve Barker is turning his attention to the Tanzanian Premier League after his side’s disappointing run in the 2025/26 CAF Champions League.
The Wekundu wa Msimbazi struggled in the continental competition, earning just two points from five matches in Group D, with one game remaining.
Barker, who took over in December, managed three of those games, recording two draws and a loss, leaving Simba at the bottom of the group.
With Champions League elimination now confirmed, Barker is focused on guiding the club back to domestic glory.
Currently sixth on the league table following a 2-0 victory over Kinondoni Municipal Council F.C., Simba are eager to climb the standings.
“The preparations are good, the players are ready, and tomorrow (Wednesday), we expect to fight to achieve the team’s goals,” Barker told Pan-Africa Football.
“We have dusted ourselves after the unwanted CAF Champions League campaign.
“We know we have one match left in the competition, but our focus has shifted to the league title chase.”
The former Stellenbosch FC and AmaZulu coach emphasized the club’s winning mentality.
“You know Simba is a big club, and in a big club, you have to win matches. We will do everything to start winning our matches and move up the table.”
Simba SC will conclude their continental campaign this weekend against Stade Malien.
