Sierra Leone’s Kallum Cesay extends Salford stay after standout debut EFL season
Kallum Cesay has been rewarded for a breakthrough campaign with Salford City, committing his long-term future to the League Two side after signing a contract extension that will run until June 2028.
The 23-year-old midfielder has quickly emerged as one of the Ammies’ most influential performers, capping an impressive first season in the English Football League with a new deal that reflects both his development and growing importance within the squad.
Cesay joined Salford from Wealdstone F.C. in the summer of 2025 and wasted little time adapting to the demands of EFL football.
In 34 appearances during the 2025-26 campaign, the Sierra Leonean contributed five goals and six assists, establishing himself as a consistent attacking outlet from midfield.
His energy, directness, and ability to impact games in key moments made him a fan favourite at the Peninsula Stadium and a central figure in Salford’s attacking structure.
Cesay’s rise has been particularly notable given his route through the academy system of Tottenham Hotspur F.C., where he developed before stepping into senior football.
His move to Wealdstone offered valuable experience, but it is at Salford where he has taken a decisive step forward, translating promise into tangible output at EFL level.
Reflecting on his progress, Cesay highlighted a turning point early in the season that sparked his run of form.
“My season really kicked off after the Swindon game. Once I got my first goal, the assists started coming, I began impacting games more, and everything just grew from there.”
The midfielder also underlined the role of supporters in his rapid rise, adding: “I can’t explain the feeling when the fans sing my name; it’s an amazing feeling, and it definitely helps. I’m playing football, I’m happy right now, and as long as I’m doing that, I’m happy.”
