Sierra Leonean forward Alie Conteh has completed a transfer to Norwegian top-flight club Strømsgodset, signing a four-year deal that marks a significant step forward in the 20-year-old’s promising career.
Conteh’s rapid rise in Norwegian football has caught the attention of many, following an impressive spell in the second tier with Mjøndalen.
Initially joining on loan from Sierra Leonean side Goderich FC, the young striker quickly made an impact.
In only his second appearance for MIF, he lit up the pitch with a hat-trick in a thrilling 5-3 win over Vålerenga, instantly announcing himself as a player to watch.
During the 2023-24 season, Conteh featured in 30 matches across league and cup competitions, starting 15 and coming off the bench in the other half.
He contributed seven goals, demonstrating his effectiveness in front of goal regardless of his role in the lineup.
His performances convinced Mjøndalen to make his stay permanent over the winter.
In the ongoing campaign, Conteh has stepped up his output, scoring 12 goals in just 17 matches across all competitions—form that has now earned him a move to the Eliteserien with Strømsgodset.
I am very happy. It is a pleasure to join Strømsgodset. I dreamed about it and I worked hard for it, Conteh said following the official announcement of his transfer.
His move represents more than just a personal milestone—it’s also a proud moment for Sierra Leonean football, which continues to see its young talents making strides across Europe.
Conteh’s progression from the local pitches of Goderich FC to the upper echelons of Norwegian football underscores the opportunities available for dedicated and talented players from the West African nation.
Strømsgodset, currently building for the future, have identified Conteh as a key addition to their attacking setup.
With his pace, work ethic, and finishing ability, the forward is expected to provide an immediate boost to the team’s frontline as they aim to make a strong impression in the second half of the season.
The next chapter of Conteh’s journey begins in the Eliteserien, where he will look to continue his development and make a name for himself on a larger stage.
