Zamalek Football Club, under the leadership of Chairman Hussein Labib, has successfully renewed the contract of Mahmoud Abdel Razek, famously known as “Shikabala,” the captain of the White Knights, for an additional two seasons.
Shikabala’s contract with Zamalek was set to expire at the end of the current season, allowing him the freedom to sign with any other club during the current transfer period.
However, he has opted to continue his journey with the White Castle.
In a recent official statement released by Shikabala, he expressed his honor in renewing his contract with Zamalek, emphasizing his deep-rooted connection with the club since his childhood.
He stated, “The Zamalek club, the esteemed management, continuing a journey spanning over thirty years since my childhood in this great institution, I am honored to renew with my first and last home, Zamalek Club, the largest sports institution in Egypt and the Arab world.”
He extended his gratitude to the Zamalek fans for their unwavering support throughout his career, thanking them from the beginning until now.
Shikabala also expressed his appreciation to the club’s board of directors for renewing their trust in him, wishing them success in returning both beloved clubs to the podiums of victory, as promised throughout their illustrious history.
“Long live Zamalek and its fans,” he concluded.
This renewal comes after “Al Masry Al Youm” exclusively revealed the details of Shikabala’s new contract with Zamalek. Businessman Mamdouh Abbas, the former chairman of Zamalek’s board of directors, will bear the financial costs associated with Shikabala’s new contract, which will extend for two seasons with the White Castle.
Hussein Labib, the club’s president, took charge of the player’s contract renewal, as part of Zamalek’s strategy to retain key players and reinforce the team with young talents for future competitions.
During a meeting held Wednesday evening between Labib and Shikabala, all matters concerning the renewal were finalized, with “The Apache” signing a new contract for an additional two seasons.
