Shikabala speaks out on Yannick Ferreira decisions and Zamalek struggles
Mahmoud Abdel-Razek Shikabala, the veteran and former Zamalek captain, has opened up with heartfelt words about his club, its players, and the challenges surrounding the White Knights.
Speaking on Saturday, he reflected on both football matters and the issues outside the pitch.
“Ferreira wronged Abdullah Al-Saeed in the first two matches by including him in position (10), while it would be better for him to play in position (8) to start attacks from the depth, and including Nasser Maher as a winger is considered an injustice to him.”
Shikabala admitted that being away from the pitch is tough: “Watching matches from the stands is much more difficult than playing inside the stadium, and Zamalek fans are not like any other fans. What happened with the chanting of my name in the 10th minute is something I have never witnessed before in a stadium.”
He also praised signings, stressed the need for reinforcements, defended Mostafa Shalaby, and voiced concern over land issues: “There were people who sought to stop construction by any means possible, and unfortunately some of them were delighted by the decision to expropriate the land.”
