Shema heads Rwanda FA delegation to pivotal FIFA Congress in Canada
Rwanda Football Federation will be represented on the global stage this week as its leadership travels to FIFA Congress in Vancouver, where key decisions shaping the future of football are set to be taken.
The Rwandan delegation is headed by FERWAFA President Fabrice Ngoga Shema, alongside First Vice President Claudine Gasarabwe and General Secretary Bonnie Mugabe. They will join representatives from all 211 member associations under the umbrella of FIFA.
The Congress, scheduled for April 30, comes at a crucial moment for the global game. On the agenda are strategic and financial decisions, as well as the selection of hosts for upcoming major tournaments.
Among the most anticipated outcomes is the confirmation of venues for the 2031 and 2035 FIFA Women’s World Cups, decisions expected to influence the sport’s global growth trajectory.
Beyond governance, the gathering offers a vital diplomatic platform. Member associations will use the opportunity to strengthen ties, exchange ideas, and explore collaborative initiatives aimed at developing football across different regions.
The timing of the Congress adds further significance, arriving less than two months before the next FIFA World Cup kicks off across North America.
With anticipation building, Vancouver becomes a focal point not only for administrative direction but also for reinforcing football’s global unity.
This marks only the second time Canada hosts the Congress, the first dating back to Montréal in 1976.
