Sevilla FC have reportedly completed the signing of Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech as a free agent.

The former Chelsea forward has agreed a one-year deal with the Andalusian side, which includes an option for a further year depending on performance.

Although LaLiga permits the registration of free agents provided there is space in the squad, Sevilla currently have all 25 slots filled. According to Vamos Mi Sevilla, the club is expected to part ways with third-choice goalkeeper Álvaro Fernández to free up a spot for Ziyech. Negotiations to finalise his departure are said to be at an advanced stage.

Ziyech, 32, arrives from Qatari side Al-Duhail following a short stint in the Middle East after leaving Galatasaray earlier this year. He had been actively searching for a new club during the summer, with Elche emerging as a serious contender, while Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca were also linked with a move.

Joining Sevilla is seen as a strategic step for the winger as he looks to reignite his career and boost his chances of returning to Morocco’s national team ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

His recent absence from the Atlas Lions squad has been attributed to fitness concerns rather than any fallout with head coach Walid Regragui.
