Sevilla FC have expressed interest in signing Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Paul Akouokou, with initial talks reportedly underway between the Spanish club and the player’s representatives.
The 27-year-old Ivorian could be among the first to depart Lyon this summer as the French side prepares for a significant squad overhaul, driven in part by the need to balance finances and avoid potential sporting sanctions.
Akouokou, who has found first-team opportunities limited this season, appears to be a candidate for a move, having made just five appearances in all competitions.
A return to La Liga would not be unfamiliar territory for the defensive midfielder.
Before joining Lyon in 2023, Akouokou spent five seasons in Spain with Real Betis, where he gained valuable top-flight experience.
