Adil Rami Joins Sevilla FC in Return to La Liga
French international Adil Rami has officially joined Sevilla FC, completing a move from AC Milan to the reigning Europa League champions. The 29-year-old defender returns to La Liga, where he previously played for Valencia between 2011 and 2014.
Rami had been closely linked with Sevilla in recent weeks, with negotiations reportedly progressing swiftly. The Spanish club confirmed the signing after the player publicly acknowledged his decision via social media.
“I have decided to accept a new challenge. On Monday, I will be in Seville to undergo my medical. I send you my love and hope to see you soon,” Rami wrote on his official Facebook page.
The French centre-back, who is of Moroccan descent, brings considerable experience to Sevilla’s back line. During his time at AC Milan, Rami made over 70 appearances in all competitions. His move to Spain signals a desire to regain form and compete at the highest level, as Sevilla prepare for the upcoming UEFA Champions League campaign.
Rami will reunite with familiar surroundings in Spain and joins a club that has built a strong reputation in European competition. Under manager Unai Emery, Sevilla secured back-to-back Europa League titles and are aiming to make an impact on the continental stage once again.
Known for his physical presence and leadership at the back, Rami’s addition is expected to bolster Sevilla’s defence ahead of a demanding season domestically and in Europe.
