Sevilla face tough LaLiga competition to sign Belgian-Congolese Albert Sambi Lokonga

Sevilla’s aspirations to retain Belgian midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga, currently on loan from Arsenal, face challenges as multiple LaLiga clubs have expressed interest in the talented player.

Lokonga, who has Congolese heritage, joined Sevilla on a season-long loan that includes an option for a permanent transfer valued at approximately £10 million.

Sevilla’s sporting director, Víctor Orta, is reportedly seeking to negotiate a reduced transfer fee, aiming to lower the agreed-upon £10 million clause.

This initiative underscores Sevilla’s intent to secure Lokonga’s services beyond the current season.

However, Lokonga’s performances have attracted attention from other Spanish clubs, notably Atlético Madrid, Villarreal, and Real Betis.

These teams are reportedly monitoring his situation closely as the summer transfer window approaches.

Lokonga has openly expressed his desire to remain with Sevilla, stating his ambition to contribute significantly to the club’s success and to establish a long-term presence in LaLiga.

Nevertheless, the mounting interest from rival clubs could complicate Sevilla’s efforts to finalize a permanent deal.
