Sevilla head coach García Pimienta has praised Chidera Ejuke following the Nigerian forward’s decisive goal in the club’s 1-0 victory over Real Sociedad on Sunday.
Ejuke struck just two minutes into the second half, finishing a well-placed pass from Saúl to secure three vital points for his side.
The win extended Sevilla’s unbeaten run in away matches to five games in La Liga and lifted them to 10th place in the standings. For Ejuke, the goal marked a significant personal achievement after enduring nearly three months on the sidelines due to injury.
Pimienta acknowledged the difficulties of regaining top form after such a prolonged absence, particularly in the face of stiff competition within the squad.
“Coming back from injury is never easy, especially when competing for a place with a player like Matías Vargas, who has been in excellent form,” Pimienta admitted.
“But Ejuke worked hard and made the most of his opportunity. His contribution was not just about the goal—his defensive effort and overall play were also impressive.”
Ejuke’s performance against Real Sociedad was a reminder of the attacking quality he brings to Sevilla’s squad. His pace, dribbling, and ability to make an impact in crucial moments make him a valuable asset for the Andalusian club.
Despite his injury setbacks, the 27-year-old has managed two goals in 17 La Liga appearances this season.
With Sevilla pushing to climb higher up the table, Ejuke’s return to form could prove crucial in the team’s bid for a strong finish to the campaign.
