ES Sétif Confident After 2–2 Draw with AS Vita Club in Champions League Final First Leg
ES Sétif took a major step toward African glory by securing a 2-2 away draw against AS Vita Club in the first leg of the CAF Champions League final, held at the Tata-Raphaël Stadium in Kinshasa, DR Congo. The result puts the Algerian club in a strong position ahead of the return leg in Blida.
Forward Akram Djahnit, who scored Sétif’s second goal, expressed satisfaction with the performance:
“It’s a good result because we’ll be more comfortable playing at home in Blida. We won’t be under any pressure. On the contrary, it’s the Congolese who will be desperate to win.”
Despite facing a tough opponent, Djahnit believes Sétif could have done even better:
“They’re a team that plays beautiful football. However, we missed many opportunities. We could have won it — the proof is that we led twice.”
Sétif’s strategy for the return leg is clear: stay focused and respect AS Vita Club’s strong away form.
“A final is something you win, not something you decide. We’ll do everything we can to win. We know our opponents play well away from home — they reached the final by winning in Sfax. We’ll take that into account,” Djahnit concluded.
The return leg will be decisive as Sétif aims to clinch the CAF Champions League title on home soil.
