Serhou Guirassy scored a late winner as Borussia Dortmund came from behind to secure a 2-1 Bundesliga victory over Wolfsburg on Saturday.
The Guinean striker, in fine form this season, netted his ninth league goal in the 87th minute to clinch the win for Dortmund in a match that had been locked at 1-1 until the closing stages.
Guirassy’s strike capped a strong individual performance and helped Dortmund maintain momentum in their push for the Bundesliga title.
Dortmund had been held to a draw for much of the contest against 15th-placed Wolfsburg, with both teams creating opportunities but failing to convert in the first half.
The breakthrough came as the game approached its final moments, with Guirassy’s physical presence and sharp finishing proving decisive.
The 29-year-old has been in impressive form, scoring three goals in his last two matches, including a brace against Heidelheim in Dortmund’s previous fixture.
His contribution has been crucial as the team aims to close the gap on leaders Bayern Munich.
This victory marks Dortmund’s fifth consecutive win in the league, lifting them to second place with 48 points, three behind Bayern.
Guirassy has now scored nine goals in 21 Bundesliga appearances this season, establishing himself as a key figure in the team’s attacking setup.
Starting in attack, the Guinean international demonstrated both power and composure, helping Dortmund to secure all three points in a hard-fought encounter.
His consistent performances in the second half of the season have reinforced Dortmund’s title ambitions and provided a much-needed boost to the team’s confidence.
With the Bundesliga entering a crucial phase, Dortmund will look to build on this victory and continue their pursuit of Bayern Munich, while Guirassy will aim to maintain his scoring form in the remaining fixtures.
