Serhou Guirassy emerges as leading option for Barcelona attack
Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy could be available for around €50 million next summer thanks to a release clause in his contract, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.
The 29-year-old Guinea international has been identified by Barcelona as a serious candidate to take over the No.9 role in the long term as the club plans for life after Robert Lewandowski.
Hansi Flick is said to be a strong admirer of Guirassy’s profile, viewing his movement, physical presence and penalty-box instincts as a natural fit for Barça’s attacking structure. His numbers back up the interest: Guirassy hit 38 goals and 9 assists in 50 games last season, and he has already started the current campaign with 9 goals and 4 assists in 17 appearances in all competitions.
Barcelona are not alone in monitoring him, with Real Madrid, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City all keeping a close eye on the situation. That level of competition underlines how hot his market value has become and increases the likelihood of a bidding battle if any club decides to trigger the clause.
For Barcelona, securing a new centre forward is described as a top priority ahead of the summer transfer window, and Guirassy currently sits high on the shortlist.
