Midfielder Ousseynou Thioune has signed with Al Mina’a in Iraq, marking a new chapter in his career after a spell without a club.
The 31-year-old Senegalese footballer, who had been a free agent since his departure from Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta, will now ply his trade in the Iraq Stars League.
Thioune, who has previously played for Diambars, FC Sochaux, and Dijon, is seeking to rejuvenate his career after leaving Anorthosis Famagusta earlier this year.
The move to Al Mina’a offers him the chance to continue competing at a professional level in the Middle East, after a period of uncertainty following his release from the Cypriot club.
In a bid to return to form, Thioune has joined a club competing in one of the most prominent leagues in Iraq.
Despite being at a crossroads in his career, the Senegalese midfielder is optimistic about his new journey and the opportunities it brings.
At 31, Thioune is still eager to contribute to his new team and make an impact in Iraq’s top flight, bringing with him a wealth of experience from his time in European football.
His signing is seen as a significant addition to Al Mina’a’s squad as they look to strengthen their roster for the upcoming season.
