Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson is edging closer to a return from injury, though he remains unavailable for Senegal’s upcoming international fixtures against Sudan and Togo.
Recovery Progress and Expected Return
Jackson, who has been a key figure for Chelsea this season with nine goals and five assists in 23 Premier League appearances, has been sidelined since February due to a muscle tear.
Manager Enzo Maresca has provided a positive update on the 22-year-old’s recovery, suggesting he could be back in action within two weeks.
His absence from Senegal’s squad was anticipated, as the medical staff remains cautious about rushing his return.
The forward’s rehabilitation has been progressing well, with Chelsea keen to have him fully fit for the crucial run-in to the season.
Chelsea’s Growing Senegalese Influence
Meanwhile, young Senegalese winger Yaya Diémé is undergoing a one-month training stint at Chelsea, marking the beginning of his integration into the BlueCo project, which oversees both Chelsea and French club RC Strasbourg.
Diémé, a product of the renowned Diambars FC academy, is set to officially join Strasbourg in 2026 when he turns 18. Until then, he will participate in several training programs with both clubs throughout 2025 to ease his transition into European football.
The pathway follows a similar model used for promising talents like Pape Daouda Diongue, as BlueCo continues to invest in developing young African prospects.
