Senegal midfielder Cheikh Niasse has expressed his disappointment after being forced to withdraw from the national team camp due to injury.
The Hellas Verona player, who had received his first international call-up, was unable to take part in Senegal’s March training camp and has since returned to his club for recovery.
Niasse’s Injury Halts His National Team Debut
Niasse, who recently made the switch from Swiss side Young Boys to Hellas Verona, was set to make his debut for Senegal but suffered an injury during training.
The setback meant that his highly anticipated first appearance in the Lions’ setup had to be postponed.
Despite his frustration, the midfielder took to social media to reassure fans of his commitment to the national team.
“It is with sadness that I am forced to leave the Den due to an injury. It is only a postponement for me.
I have confidence in my country, Senegal, and I am with you all. Big force! Senegal rek!” he wrote on Instagram.
Senegal’s Upcoming Fixtures
Senegal will return to action in June, with two high-profile friendlies lined up in preparation for future competitions.
The Teranga Lions are scheduled to face Ireland on June 6 before taking on England on June 10 at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground.
While Niasse’s availability for these fixtures remains uncertain, his message of support underlines his determination to return stronger and fight for his place in the squad.
