Simons Diedhiou is preparing to take legal action against Al-Faisaly over an outstanding payment of approximately $12,000, marking a new chapter in the former Senegal international’s turbulent post-contract saga with the Jordanian club.
The 33-year-old, who has been without a club since his departure from Al-Faisaly in January 2025, claims he has yet to receive the second installment of a severance package agreed upon during the termination of his contract.
While the club fulfilled the first payment of $24,000, Diedhiou says the remaining amount also $12,000 has not been transferred, despite repeated reminders and a prior understanding between both parties.
According to sources close to the player, Diedhiou has sought legal representation and is actively considering taking the matter to court if no resolution is reached in the coming days.
His legal counsel has reportedly begun the necessary preparations for filing a formal complaint, signalling his intent to recover what he sees as his rightful due.
Diedhiou, a product of Senegal’s esteemed Diambars academy, rose to prominence with his physical presence and finishing ability.
His professional journey has taken him across several continents, starting with a spell in Belgium where he played for top-flight clubs including La Gantoise and Mouscron. He later featured in Norway’s Eliteserien with FK Haugesund, before returning to Senegal in 2020.
Following a stint in Morocco, Diedhiou joined Al-Faisaly in August 2024. During his short time in the Jordanian Pro League, he made a notable impact, scoring four goals in eight appearances.
However, his time at the club came to an abrupt end just five months later, when both parties mutually agreed to terminate his contract.
That agreement included a severance settlement divided into two parts. With the initial installment already paid, Diedhiou argues that Al-Faisaly’s failure to fulfil the remainder breaches the terms of their agreement and has left him financially exposed while he seeks new opportunities.
Now a free agent, Diedhiou is not only focused on reclaiming the wages he believes are owed to him but also on restarting his career under more stable conditions.
The situation has added a legal dimension to an already challenging period for the striker, who remains hopeful of securing a new club while pursuing justice off the pitch.
The case underscores a broader issue of contractual disputes in global football, particularly between players and clubs outside the top European leagues.
For Diedhiou, the immediate concern is ensuring that the promises made to him are honoured, as he looks to close this chapter and begin a fresh one with clarity and security.
Should the matter proceed to court, it could bring further scrutiny on Al-Faisaly’s financial dealings and player relations, as well as set a precedent for how such cases are handled in Jordanian football.
