Mamadou Kaly Sène has completed a move to Middlesbrough, signing a four-year contract with the Championship club after leaving Swiss side FC Lausanne-Sport.

The 24-year-old Senegalese forward arrives at the Riverside Stadium on a deal running until June 2029, becoming Middlesbrough’s latest attacking reinforcement as they aim for a strong Championship campaign.

Sène joins compatriot Seny Dieng, who is the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, adding further Senegalese representation to Michael Carrick’s squad.

A product of Juventus’ academy, Sène gained experience in Swiss football with FC Basel and Grasshopper before making his mark at Lausanne-Sport.

His start to the 2025-26 season was particularly impressive, scoring six goals in eight appearances, a return that highlighted his growing reputation as a reliable attacking threat.

Middlesbrough, who have opened their campaign with three wins in as many games, will hope Sène’s arrival strengthens their push for promotion.

The striker expressed his excitement at the move, describing it as a significant step forward in his career.

“This is a big challenge for me, and I’m very happy to be here,” Sène said. “I’m not just a striker who focuses on scoring goals. I always give everything for the team, running hard both in attack and in defence because that is just as important.”

The forward’s versatility and willingness to contribute across the pitch could make him a valuable asset for Carrick’s side. His arrival gives Middlesbrough another dynamic option in the final third as they look to sustain their perfect start to the season and compete at the top end of the Championship table.

Sène’s move is also a milestone in his career, marking his first venture into English football after several seasons of steady development in Switzerland.

His combination of physical presence, sharp movement, and technical skill is expected to fit well into Carrick’s style of play.

For Middlesbrough, the signing underlines their ambition to strengthen key areas of the squad early in the season. With Sène now in the ranks, the club will look to build on their strong opening form and mount a serious promotion challenge.

The Senegalese international’s journey from Juventus’ academy to the Championship highlights his persistence and growth as a player, and he will be eager to make an immediate impact on English football.
