RFC Liège have confirmed that the proposed transfer of Senegalese striker Khadim Dieng has collapsed after he failed to pass his medical examination.
The Belgian club announced that the medical tests carried out on the 22-year-old produced inconclusive results, leading to a decision not to complete the signing.
As a result, Dieng will not be registered to play this season.
Dieng had been signed last Monday, shortly before the transfer window closed, with hopes that he would strengthen the squad for the remainder of the campaign.
However, the outcome of the medical assessment forced RFC Liège to abandon the deal before it could be finalised.
In a statement, the club expressed its support for the player despite the setback, wishing him a speedy recovery and a swift return to full fitness so he can revive his career.
The decision means Dieng will now have to wait before resuming competitive football.
For the young Senegalese forward, the failed move represents another difficult moment in what has been a challenging period.
In November 2023, a potential transfer to FC Nantes was also called off for similar medical reasons, preventing him from securing a move at that time.
The repeated nature of these setbacks has stalled Dieng’s progress, with hopes of relaunching his career once again put on hold.
At 22, he remains at a stage where regular playing time is crucial, but concerns raised during medical examinations have continued to hinder potential transfers.
RFC Liège’s decision brings clarity to a situation that had remained uncertain since the signing was announced.
While the club had initially moved quickly to secure Dieng’s services before the deadline, medical considerations ultimately took precedence.
For now, attention turns to Dieng’s recovery and future prospects. With the season underway and the transfer window closed, the striker faces a period of uncertainty as he works to regain fitness and convince clubs of his readiness to return to action.
The hope remains that improved health will allow him to put these setbacks behind him and move forward with his career.
