Senegalese striker Abdourahmane Mbodji completes move to FC Metz
FC Metz have continued their long-standing recruitment strategy in Senegal after reaching an agreement with Génération Foot for the transfer of highly-rated Senegalese striker Abdourahmane Mbodji.
The 18-year-old forward is expected to sign his first professional contract with the French club this summer, agreeing to a five-year deal despite Metz preparing for life in Ligue 2 following relegation.
Mbodji arrives in France after an impressive breakthrough campaign in the Senegalese top flight, where he established himself as one of the most promising young attackers in the country.
The forward scored 11 goals and registered three assists in 25 league appearances during his first full season at senior level.
His performances also earned attention on the international stage after he featured for Senegal during the 2025 U17 Africa Cup of Nations. Known for his mobility and attacking energy, the teenager’s reputation has continued to grow rapidly over the past year.
According to the report, his market value has already risen to around €300,000 following his recent performances.
Metz’s move for the striker is regarded as a significant achievement given the level of competition surrounding his signature.
Several clubs across Europe had reportedly been monitoring the Senegalese youngster closely ahead of the summer transfer window.
In France, clubs including Olympique Lyonnais, Olympique de Marseille, Lille OSC and RC Lens were all linked with interest in the player.
Outside France, German sides Eintracht Frankfurt and VfB Stuttgart, along with Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe, were also reportedly following his progress.
By opting for Metz, Mbodji follows a pathway already taken by several Senegalese talents developed through Génération Foot’s partnership with the French side.
The striker is now expected to become one of the most closely watched players when Metz resume preparations for the new campaign in August, with the club targeting an immediate return to the top flight.
His arrival also comes as Metz continue to monitor the situation surrounding another Génération Foot talent, Amara Diouf, whose future is expected to become clearer after his 18th birthday in June.
