Senegalese midfielder Lamine Gueye secures loan move from Real Betis to Ourense CF
Real Betis have confirmed that Senegalese midfielder Lamine Gueye will spend the 2025–26 season on loan at Ourense CF, as part of a strategy aimed at accelerating his development through senior football experience.
The 19-year-old will compete in the Segunda Federación, Spain’s fourth-tier division, following a deal struck between the Seville-based club and Ourense CF.
The temporary move is designed to provide Gueye with consistent first-team minutes, something considered essential at this stage of his professional progression.
Gueye, who has shown promising glimpses throughout his time in the Betis youth setup, spent last season gaining experience with the club’s age-grade sides before being sent out on loan to Calavera CF.
While at Calavera, he featured in the División de Honor Juvenil—the top tier of Spanish youth football—where he continued to refine his technical and tactical attributes.
Betis believe that Gueye’s next logical step is to test himself in a senior competitive environment, and Ourense CF provides that platform. The Galician outfit is expected to utilise the midfielder in a regular capacity throughout the campaign, giving him a vital opportunity to adapt to the physical and mental demands of adult football in Spain.
Though still relatively early in his career, Gueye’s work ethic and athleticism have earned him praise among the Betis coaching staff. The decision to send him on loan is consistent with the club’s long-term plan to gradually integrate him into the senior fold, with performance in the upcoming season likely to influence future opportunities at the Estadio Benito Villamarín.
This latest loan move represents an important milestone for the young Senegalese midfielder, who continues to climb through the ranks of Spanish football. For both Gueye and Real Betis, the hope is that regular game time in the Segunda Federación will sharpen his match awareness and decision-making, further preparing him for higher levels of competition in seasons to come.
Ourense CF, meanwhile, will be looking to benefit from Gueye’s energy and youthful dynamism in midfield as they seek to mount a competitive campaign. With a full season ahead of him, the loan spell could prove pivotal for both player and club in terms of development and performance.
The loan is effective immediately and will run through the end of the 2025–26 season.
