Senegalese midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye has signed a new one-year contract with Everton, including an option for an additional season, extending his long-standing relationship with the Premier League club.
The 34-year-old, who enjoyed a standout 2024-25 campaign, was voted Player of the Season by both fans and teammates.
His renewed commitment sees him enter his seventh season at Goodison Park, having first arrived in 2016 from Aston Villa before returning in 2022 after a three-year spell at Paris Saint-Germain.
Gueye has become a pillar of consistency in Everton’s midfield, amassing 211 appearances for the Toffees.
Speaking after putting pen to paper, the Senegal international expressed heartfelt pride in continuing his journey with the Merseyside outfit.
Everyone knows what Everton means to me and my family, he said. After six seasons here, this club is more than just a place where I play, it’s a part of me. I’m proud to start my seventh year with the Blues. Last season was excellent for me personally, and I feel ready, fresh and more motivated than ever to continue to push myself.
The veteran midfielder also spoke with optimism about the direction in which the club is heading, highlighting Everton’s upcoming move to a new stadium and the collective ambition to restore former glories.
With our magnificent new stadium and a real sense of momentum throughout the Club, this season feels like a turning point, Gueye added. We have laid the foundations. Now it is up to us: players, staff, coach, management and above all, our supporters, to unite to raise the bar and bring Everton back to its rightful place.

Manager David Moyes, back in charge for a second spell, welcomed the contract extension, underlining Gueye’s value both on and off the pitch.
We are delighted to have Idrissa back, said Moyes. His experience and knowledge of the club will be essential for the arrival of many new players and the new stadium.
Gueye’s renewal follows similar commitments from Seamus Coleman, Jarrad Branthwaite, and Michael Keane, reflecting the club’s strategy of reinforcing its core leadership group as it looks to build a resilient and competitive squad for the seasons ahead.
