Senegalese international Yehvann Diouf has officially joined OGC Nice from Stade de Reims, signing a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 side in a move considered a major step forward in his career.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper becomes the latest reinforcement for Nice following the departure of Marcin Bulka to Saudi Arabian outfit Neom.
Diouf, who earned his first senior cap for Senegal in June during a 1-1 draw against Ireland, brings with him both top-flight experience and leadership credentials, having captained his former club.
The announcement was made by OGC Nice on Thursday, July 3, confirming the signing of the former Reims shot-stopper who will now wear the number 88 shirt.
The club’s sporting director, Florian Maurice, praised the new acquisition for his character and consistency.
“Yehvann embodies stability and consistency, and beyond his intrinsic qualities, he is a player in the prime of life who was used to wearing the captain’s armband at his former club,” Maurice said.
“We are recruiting both a goalkeeper and a leader accustomed to responsibility, with whom we are planning for the long term, since he has signed for five years.”
Diouf’s arrival comes at a critical moment for Nice, who finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season and are preparing for the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.
His signing is viewed as part of the club’s strategic push for European success and long-term squad stability.
Reacting to the move, Diouf expressed enthusiasm and pride at the new chapter in his career. “It’s a great opportunity that I’m approaching with ambition.
Nice is a club used to Europe, a big Ligue 1 team. I’m very proud to commit here for the long term,” he said. “I’m convinced that we will accomplish great things and make the fans proud.”
Diouf’s consistent form at Reims played a central role in his development as one of the top goalkeepers in the French league.
His leadership on and off the pitch helped solidify Reims’ defensive line over recent seasons. Now, at Nice, he is expected to not only protect the goal but also serve as a vocal leader in the dressing room.
His experience will be invaluable for a Nice side that is looking to blend youth with experience in a bid to secure domestic and continental success.
With Champions League qualifiers looming, Diouf’s immediate integration into the squad is expected as he competes for the starting role between the posts.
As Nice looks ahead to the 2025/26 campaign with heightened ambition, Yehvann Diouf’s arrival could prove instrumental in anchoring the team’s defensive efforts as they navigate both Ligue 1 and European challenges.
