Senegalese goalkeeper Mory Diaw signs two-year deal with Le Havre AC

Senegalese goalkeeper Mory Diaw signs two-year deal with Le Havre AC

Le Havre AC have officially secured the services of Senegalese international Mory Diaw on a two-year contract, reinforcing their goalkeeping department ahead of the new season.

The 32-year-old joins the Normandy-based club from Clermont Foot, following a brief loan spell at Rodez during the second half of last season.

His arrival comes at a pivotal time for Le Havre, with both Arthur Desmas and Matthieu Gorgelin expected to depart in the coming weeks.

The move also coincides with the recent acquisition of the club by the Blue Crow Sports group, marking the start of a new era at Stade Océane.

Diaw, who has earned three caps for the Senegal national team, brings with him significant experience from both Ligue 1 and Ligue 2.

His stint at Rodez saw him make 11 appearances, during which he registered two clean sheets and provided a reliable presence between the posts in a challenging campaign.

Le Havre’s decision to pursue Diaw reflects the club’s need for stability in goal, as they prepare for another competitive season.

The signing was made official following final approval from the new ownership group, who are keen to lay strong foundations for sustained success in the French top flight.

Born in France but representing Senegal internationally, Diaw has had a varied career. After spending his formative years in the Paris Saint-Germain academy, he embarked on a professional journey that included spells in Portugal and Switzerland, before eventually establishing himself in France.

His commanding presence, shot-stopping ability, and leadership qualities make him a valuable addition to the Le Havre squad.

Diaw’s arrival has been met with optimism by the club’s supporters, who see the Senegalese international as a dependable figure capable of bringing experience and composure to the back line.

His familiarity with French football and ability to handle pressure situations are seen as vital assets for a team aiming to consolidate its status in Ligue 1.

Le Havre’s sporting management have been deliberate in their approach to summer recruitment, with a focus on experience and depth.

The acquisition of Diaw is expected to be followed by further reinforcements in other key positions as the club aims to build a competitive squad under the stewardship of its new investors.

With pre-season preparations underway, Diaw will now begin training with his new teammates and is expected to compete for the starting role in goal.

As the club transitions into a new chapter, all eyes will be on how the Senegalese shot-stopper adapts and contributes to Le Havre’s ambitions for the upcoming campaign.

For Diaw, this move represents not only a new challenge but also a chance to re-establish himself at the highest level of French football. Le Havre, in turn, have secured a proven talent whose experience and professionalism will be key in the season ahead.
